Westlake Chemical Corporation announced Monday it will invest $40 million in its Calvert City plant. The company plans to modify the
plant’s ethylene furnaces to reduce costs, improve operating efficiency and consume less energy.
The modifications are expected to be completed by mid 2013 and allow the plant to retain up to 380 current jobs. Westlake is an international manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers and building products with headquarters in Houston, Texas.
The announcement was made by Gov. Steve Beshear and company president Albert Chao.
