PVC export prices out of the US Gulf have made sizeable gains this week as the market remained tight in the US and across the globe, sources said.
Participants talked July offers out of the US this week at $800/mt FOB USG and some speculated that deals could get done higher. “I think $830/mt could get done,” said one trader. The higher prices were attributed to limited product availability driven by constrained chlorine and vinyl chloride monomer production. Material out of the US was heard to be limited and sources said that the only producers offering were Shintech and Formosa. Regarding demand, the Turkish market remained heated this week with prices heard as high as $940/mt CFR Turkey.
