Demand for standard commodity plastics revived somewhat in June, especially in the second half of the month, and yet delivery volumes were below last year’s levels. Many customers had restocked in advance because they were anticipating higher prices in July.

The month of June saw prices increase across the board with PVC taking the lead. The hikes were not so much fuelled by demand but rather by the fact that players were trying to pass on increased prices of upstream products as well as production cuts among suppliers and strong exports of PE and PP. The sold volumes of LDPE and LLDPE were below the previous year.
