At Plast’09 World first for reaction processing: a new in mould painting process supplied from KraussMaffei to produce tractor engine covers.

On the stand at the Plast ’09, KraussMaffei will show a sample of a tractor engine cover produced with this innovative technique. The covers, made of fibre-reinforced PUR in a LFI process, are given their high-gloss surface finish in the mould.

Successful endurance tests – 12,000 hours in agricultural operation – have shown that the engine covers are rugged and long-lasting, the German company says. The new production process has other advantages: for instance, exact colour matching of the engine covers and the injection moulded frontend, as well as the possibility of integrating metal inserts in the production process. Moreover colour changing is extremely simple, thus enhancing product versatility.
