PolyOne Corporation announced the expansion of its Geon VBX Series vinyl powder solutions for automotive industry with new production lines at existing facilities in Kutno, Poland and Dongguan, China.
Robert Rosenau, president, PolyOne Performance Products and Solutions, stated, “This investment is consistent with the automotive industry’s desire to work with global suppliers able to offer local production capability. It is also consistent with the PolyOne strategy to offer specialized polymer and service solutions globally. We are optimistic about the prospects for growth in the automotive segment, and are developing a pipeline of innovations targeting this important industry.”
Both the China and Poland facilities will reach full scale production in the third quarter of this year. The move expands the capacity of Geon VBX Series slush-molding powders beyond an existing powder production plant in North Baltimore, Ohio, the US. PolyOne says it has been supplying specialty vinyl powder solutions to the automotive industry for soft-touch interior components such as instrument and door panels for over 25 years.
