Our next stop was at Rugeley-based Plastech Solutions, a leading provider of equipment and services to the plastics industry.  We met with Daley Williams, the company’s Sales & Business Development Manager to learn more.

Founded in 2013, Plastech Solutions was borne from the need for a ‘solutions provider’ that could offer a complete technical manufacturing production cell to potential clients. Plastech Solutions is now a trusted provider of high-quality equipment and services to the plastics industry.

The solution offered would be specified around the customers’ injection moulding machine brand, allowing Plastech to concentrate on automation, robots, production tooling, process monitoring and vision inspection.  Key business partners now include Star and Ilsemann for automation products, Abate Basilio and Futura Stampi for tooling, Intravis for product inspection, and bfa solutions for production monitoring & Industry 4.0 requirements.

The company relied and thrived on the extensive sector knowledge of its team.  Technical Director Sean Wade has 30+ years of experience, with time served at both Netstal/KraussMaffei and BMB.  The company’s Sales Director, Jack Baker, is another key team member, also working as a Service Engineer and Business Development engineer at Netstal during his 14-year career in plastics.

During the first few years of the company’s trading, a reputation for competence within the more demanding plastic production specialities developed. Primary target markets are now Packaging, Medical, Caps & Closures, Technical, Automotive and PET applications.  We asked Sales and Business Development Manager, Daley Williams, about this customer profile:

Our typical customer’s objective is to reduce manufacturing and labour cost, expanding their business and improve profitability through a programme of proactive investment. As such, we are measured by our success, long term customers including RPC, Champion Mouldings and OnePlastics Group more locally, and companies such as Mackie’s Ice cream in Scotland and United Caps in Ireland.”

We asked how Plastech Solutions successfully achieves the goals set by their clients:

This is mainly due to our unique range of products, coupled with our complete management of each project.  We work closely with several equipment and tooling suppliers that are each, individually ‘top of their field’. For example, we work with both Star and Ilsemann Automation products, so for an IML application, we would balance cycle time expectations with ROI.  In short, we thoroughly analyse clients requirements and then specify a completely tailored solution that is greater than the sum of its components.

“We handle all aspects of the project, from concept to installation and training, then offering service and maintenance support designed to maximise uptime.  We provide expert help and guidance throughout the process, we aim to maximise productivity, minimise labour cost and reduce waste.  By helping customers to understand the true cost of ownership, they can achieve the lowest part cost for the full life of the product.”
