Contract prices for PET packaging resins rose by EUR 30/t on average in May, with momentum increasing slightly over the month, says the newsletter Plastics Information Europe (PIE, Bad Homburg / Germany; www.pieweb.com). The North American picture was similar, although increasing Asian imports pressured notations.
Questions about the strength of the seasonal demand revival make a forecast for the European market difficult. Although producers would like to move prices forward, the opposite movement is also possible. Either way, changes are likely to remain relatively slight, says PIE.
