Plastics New Zealand has announced that entries are now open for the 2018–19 Industry Design Awards, which feature a ‘new look’ and two new awards: the Best Supplier Partnership and the Research and New Innovation Award.
Held every two years, the awards will continue to celebrate the New Zealand plastic industry’s excellence in product and process development. It will recognise innovative products from manufacturers, designers and brand owners which can be entered into four product categories, including Best Environmental Product. As part of the new look of the awards, the process categories have been combined into the Best Manufacturing Process & Execution Award which focuses on those who used sound development processes and applied innovative design to optimise manufacturing, assembly and logistics to achieve best cost, quality, reliability, time to market and customer satisfaction.
The Gold and Highly Commended Awards will be presented in each category, and the Plastics New Zealand Supreme Award will be selected from entrants across all categories.
Alongside these awards will be two new ones:
- Best Supplier Partnership is for suppliers of materials or services who have provided an innovative solution and worked proactively in partnership with a manufacturer/brand owner on a product or process development project.
- Research and New Innovation Award is for new innovations in plastic materials and compounds (including biopolymers), plastics processing technology or allied equipment that advances the plastics industry.
