interzum 2013, the international trade fair of materials and design-related subjects for furniture manufacturers and interior designers, will be held on 13-16 May in Cologne, Germany. More than 1,400 suppliers from over 60 countries will present visionary technologies and innovative designs on 155,000sqm. Meanwhile, over 50,000 visitors from 140 countries are expected.
Koelnmesse GmbH, the organizer, says that the best ideas and sector innovations for interiors, mobile living spaces and the furniture industry will make their debuts in the trade fair. Visitors can get a comprehensive overview of products ranging from fittings, glass and lighting to surfaces, wood-based materials and other natural materials, as well as leather and upholstery.As said, apart from the exhibits, the extensive and attractive supporting framework program is another highlight, namely the expansive themed piazzas presented by each of the three product segments “Materials & Nature,”, “Function & Components” and “Textile & Machinery”.
On the “Materials & Nature” piazza, real wood and decor are presented in a way that allows them to be experienced with all five senses. In the presentation area, speakers will be showcasing subjects like 3D printing, laser technology in edge processing, trendy decor colors or smart materials. Meanwhile, in the “Textile & Machinery” segment, the textile production line for the manufacturing of a car seat is recreated on some 4,500sqm. For the “Function & Components” area, there will be an “innovation of interior” piazza specially devised for architects and designers.
Its lounge and the special exhibition “Smart Materials” specifically target the needs of this visitor group.In order to facilitate overseas guests who will visit both interzum and Ligna, the trade fair for the wood processing and manufacturing industry, Koelnmesse cooperates closely with Deutsche Messe AG from Hanover, the organizers of the Ligna, so that Ligna will be held in the week prior to the interzum.
