Austria-based plastics processing machine manufacturer Engel has included an automatic mold changing system, Engel famox, in its product
range, claiming that it can change molds in less than a minute.
Engel said the new system suits the need of modern manufacturing that requires the production of a larger range of models in a shorter lifecycles. It is equipped with control logic, visualization and ergonomics of the CC 200 control unit applied by the company’s injection molding machines. Thus, data can be transferred without the need for external interfaces.
The diagram of the mold changing system will be displayed either on the table or on the machine. The animated screen page gives a fast overview of the current status of the system and enables the mold change to be started with only a few settings. An integral mold pre-heating station and standardized multi-coupling for media lines have helped Engel famox to change mold in less than a minute, according to the press release.
Engel added that the famox is equipped with direct roller drives. Because each roller has its own electric motor, the system is also robust in operation.
The automatic mold changing system will be available in three sizes, with the first being the Engel famox 25 for molds weighing up to 25 tons. One smaller and one larger machine are to follow.
