KraussMaffei introduces new MX650+ injection molding machine for packaging industry

On September 22, plastics processing machines manufacturer KraussMaffei has introduced the new MX650+ injection molding machine

which can offer injection rates of up to 700mm/s for the packaging industry.

As said, the MX650+ can cope with different mold installation heights using large molds containing a large number of mold cavities, thus attaining precise platen parallelism and even clamping force distribution.

The new size rounds down the clamping force spectrum of the MX series below the smallest MX 850. Optional bracing of the center platen on the machine bed relieves the pressure on tie bars and mold guides when stack molds are used.

“This makes the MX 650+ the ideal solution for the packaging industry, which is strongly represented in the USA for instance,” said Paul Caprio, President of KraussMaffei Corporation (USA). “Multi-cavity molds are used primarily for screw closures and sealing caps, and very short cycle times are demanded.”

The new machine, with a compact installation area, is equipped with an energy-saving electric screw drive. The HPS-UN screw is suited for plastification of polyolefins used in the packaging industry, producing specific melting capacities and uniform melt quality at low melting temperatures, stated KraussMaffei. The dynamism of the clamping unit is fully exploited and the processor benefits from short cycle times, even molded part quality and long-lasting production security.

For additional mold functions such as stack ejectors or core pullers, “high-flow” valves with a parallel function are available independently for every stack to ensure fast demolding of the parts.
