Half of plastics bags in China found to be under par

According to a recent examination carried out by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China,

half of the plastics bags tested are not up to the standard.

Related quality inspection department has already issued warnings to sub-standard companies to improve within a certain period, the report said.

In the testing involving 355 types of plastics bags from 348 firms in 26 cities, including Beijing and Tianjin, 117 of the samples were found to have problems in labeling, thickness, printing quality and handling, water leakage tests, among others.

Besides, in 113 tested plastics bags for food contact, five of them were found to contain acetic acid or ethanol in residue after evaporation testing. They also failed the decolorization test.
