ANKARA : The latest released imports statistics indicate that Egyptian exports of homo PP to Turkey hit a record high during January 2013.Egypt has moved two places ahead to become the second largest exporter after Saudi Arabia. The imports of Egyptian PP have registered a phenomenal growth since 2010. In 2010 the market share of Egypt was less than 1%.The imports rose sharply by around 6 times during 2011. A good majority of the exports originated from the Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene Co (EPPC) which was established in 2010.

In 2012, Egyptian exports totaled in excess of 70,000 tons making Egypt the fourth largest PP exporter to Turkey.Saudi Arabia, Greece and India topped the list.The highest monthly exports in 2012 were recorded in March(9,700 tons) and December(9,600 tons). The total imports during January this year has surpassed all previous monthly figures. The 11,000 tons recorded in January 2013 is 13% higher when compared to the same month a year ago.

Egypt has increased its market share too. The market share of Egypt in January 2013 was almost double that of Greece and four times that of India. Saudi Arabia continues to dominate with exports almost five times that of Egypt. The closeness of ports and exemption on customs duties on shipments between Egypt and Turkey has augmented the trade between the two nations.
