Computer manufacturer Dell has eliminated the use of about 18.2 million pounds of packaging material since 2008.

The company said that since 2008, it has increased the amount of recycled content in its packaging to about 32%, according to its corporate responsibility report.

According to Dell, 57% of its packaging materials can be recycled by customers using their local curbside pick-up programmes. The company is planning to increase the number to 75% by the end of 2012.

In November 2009, Dell integrated bamboo into its packaging portfolio to focus on renewable and compostable packaging.
