According to CPRJ Editorial Team’s calculation based on statistics from China Customs, in February, China exported 365,000 tons of plastic products at a value of US$980 million.
In the first two months, the figures reached 1.074 million tons and US$2.84 billion respectively, representing a drop of 2.6% and 14.4% compared to those registered in the same period of last year.
Imports of primary form plastics in February amounted to 1.50 million tons and US$2.95 billion in quantity and value respectively. Import quantity in the first two months of the year were 3.69 million tons, down 0.5% year-on-year, while import value reached US$7.18 billion, an increase of 16.3% from a year ago.
ABS resin imports in February were 127,000 tons in quantity, raising the year-to-month figure to 299,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%. Import value in February was US$280 million, pulling up the year-to-month figure to US$650 million, an increase of 23.8% from a year ago.
Imports of polyester chips in February were close to 10,000 tons in quantity, leading to a year-to-month figure of 25,000 tons, down 11.9% year-on-year. Import value in February was US$17.23 million, making the year-to-month figure to US$28.17 million, an increase of 12.6% compared to the same period of last year.
The above-mentioned figures suggest that China’s imports and exports of plastic raw materials and products registered a drop compared to the figures in January.
