Plastic solution provider Borouge announced on July 6 that it has awarded the three main contracts for the FEED (front-end engineering and design) stage of its Borouge 3 expansion in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi to Tecnimont (Maire Tecnimont Group), an international EPC Contractor operating in Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, Power, Civil Engineering and Infrastructure.
The contract includes the FEED of the multiple polyolefin units, the LDPE (low density polyethylene) unit and the utilities and offsite facilities. This announcement follows the recent selection of Bechtel, an engineering, construction and project management company, as the project management support for Borouge 3. The FEED-stage will have a duration of approximately nine months.
Borouge is expanding its annual production capacity of polyolefins in Abu Dhabi to 4.5 million tons by the end of 2013.
