Amopacet’s latest special effect additives technology creates multidimensional color and texture.
The latest in special-effect colorant/additive masterbatches from Ampacet Corp., Tarrytown, N.Y., is the new patent-ending ReptyleFx, said to create unique, customizable colors and surface textures in flexible plastic film, which enables designers to create edgy new products that replicate the tactile and visual appeal of snakeskin.
Targeted applications include standup-pouches for snack foods and juice beverages, merchandise bags and mailers, and personal-care packaging. Other uses can range from consumer tapes and labels, camouflage military MRE packaging, to countertops, cloth fabric alternatives, rain gear and other plastic clothing, and car interior trim.
The ReptyleFx technology combines colors, special effects and functional additives. Use of a special-effect additive can render both rough and smooth textures with multidimensional color effects—all achieved within a minimum two-layer film structure. Said strategic business & marketing manager Doug Brownfield, “Incorporating the colors and special effects within the film’s layers heralds a new wave of creative and functional advances in flexible plastic film for enhanced consumer impact…Designers will appreciate the addition of surface textures as a novel way to build consumer interaction with the product and build shelf impact.”
