PolyOne has announced the availability of PVC alloys that enable the use of darker colors in exterior building and construction applications. Marketed under the Geon HTX Ultra brand, this technology offers improved high temperature performance and dark color weatherability versus standard vinyl compounds, without compromising impact strength. It also offers easier processing than alternative materials such as ASA or CPVC.
Geon HTX Ultra compounds are capable of withstanding temperatures up to 195° F without sagging or warping. A fade-resistant formula allows dark colors to maintain acceptable appearance even in the most demanding climates.
In outdoor building & construction applications, where the desire for darker colors continues to grow, Geon HTX Ultra technology allows the expansion of the color palette beyond the traditional white, beige and pastel colors. These compounds are ideal for applications such as fence and door profiles, window glazing, and siding capstock, where both aesthetics and performance are required. HTX Ultra can be used as a solid profile, cap layer, or substrate.
Geon HTX Ultra has been selected by a major fence and deck manufacturer as a capping layer for privacy fencing. This product compliments the manufacturer’s product line with a dark color accent that will stand up to the elements and maintain its rich, dark color over time.
