At Compamed 2012, Wittmann Battenfeld will demonstrate the production of micro filter made on an all-electric MicroPower 15/10, which is specifically developed for high precision injection molding of nano and micro parts.
The micro filter made of POM, with an 80µ grid and a part weight of 1.1mg, can be used in acoustical engineering as well as in micro pumps or inhalators. It is produced in a two-cavity mold with three-platen injection.
This two-step injection unit, which consists of a screw and a plunger and with a shot volume ranging from 0.05-4cm3, injects thermally homogeneous melt that results in quality and stable production with short cycle times. In addition, the Austrian-based machinery producer says all peripheral equipment of MicroPower is specially adapted to the production of micro parts.
The modular machine system consists of a basic platform that can be extended according to needs with a rotary disk, parts removal handling, quality monitoring and a clean-room module, extendable up to a complete production cell.
According to Wittmann Battenfeld, the machine is ideal for medical applications, as its clean room-compatible design and the clean-room module provides clean air class 6 according to ISO 14644-1. In such applications, the parts are injection-molded, inspected and deposited within the clean-room compartment. Compamed will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany from November 14-16.
