SAP System Installed at UK Plastics Recycling Plant

German enterprise software designer SAP and its business partner ISB Global have provided a comprehensive software system to United Kingdom plastics recycler Closed Loop Recycling.

SAP Business One waste and recycling process flow software is being used for a number of tasks at Closed Loop’s new recycling and manufacturing plant in London.

At the plant, Closed Loop Recycling is taking 35,000 tonnes of recovered plastic bottles annually, including #1 and #2 soda bottles and milk jugs, and creating secondary plastic that can be used in beverage packaging applications.

Buyers for the secondary plastic include Coca-Cola Enterprises, Marks & Spencer, Nampak Plastics Europe and Solo Cup Europe, according to a news release from Closed Loop Recycling and ISB Global.

The SAP Business One WR1 software, which comes with accounting and customer relationship management modules, is billed as an “enterprise resource planning (ERP) application designed specifically for the small to mid-size market.”

According to ISB Global, “It is an integrated system containing all the elements to help manage a business, combining financial, accounting, customer relationship management, supplier relationship management, customer service and contract management, sales and purchase order processing, inventory, warehouse management and manufacturing systems” components, designed to be flexible, scalable and uncomplicated.”

According to Chris Williams, managing director of United Kingdom-based ISB Global, Closed Loop chose the SAP software “because of the integrated nature of the product. The batch tracking of the recycled plastic allows for tracking back to the MRF or to the client. Additionally, says Williams, Closed Loop was impressed by “ISB Global’s knowledge of the waste and recycling industry.”
