Rampf Giessharze, a manufacturer of polyurethane and epoxy resin systems and silicones, has developed the fast-curing soft integral foam Raku-Pur Speed for adhesion to all kinds of materials in assembly processes of complex production lines.

In certain industrial applications that form part of complex production lines, components need to be used straight after sealing without long curing sections, explains Rampf. The Raku-Pur 32-3250-36 soft integral foam ensures eight hours’ production without any interruption as curing is not necessary for this material. Thus, it is suitable for use in all technologies that require short cycle times.

A short conveyor distance of 2-3m is sufficient to apply the foam gasket and ensure the component is ready for use. Tack-free components are ready for packaging in less than 150s.

No additional curing measures such as an oven or inductive/infrared radiation are needed. The ambient temperature, according to Rampf, is sufficient to cure the sealing material applied “in situ”, making the component ready for further processing. Users do not need to invest in additional equipment or pay the extra energy costs associated with curing.

Other material features include low water absorption and high mechanical strength for adhesion to various materials, from polypropylene (PP) to painted steel, in assembly operations. The material offers long-term temperature resistance in a range from -30°C to 90°C and can be exposed to temperatures ranging from -40°C to 140°C for short periods. In addition to applying Raku-Pur 32-3250-36 directly to the component, application of molded foam, with the foam produced in molds as a structural component, and other methods are also supported, adds the company.
