RecyClass extends scope to electrical, electronic, automotive applications

RecyClass has extended its scope to encompass plastic components used in electrical, electronic, and automotive applications.

The announcement follows the successful implementation of RecyClass’ Design for Recycling Guidelines and Recyclability Evaluation Protocols for the packaging industry.

The former explain the concepts of recyclability and design for recycling and provide explanation and guidance on how to design rigid and flexible plastic packaging to make it compatible with recycling. As well, it covers the various sorting and recycling processes, and how they determine packaging recyclability.

The latter evaluates the compatibility of plastic packaging with the entire waste management chain, which includes collection, sorting, recycling, and ability of the recycled material to be reused in its original application.

“Drawing upon a decade of expertise and experience on plastic packaging, RecyClass is poised to drive innovation within the electrical, electronic and automotive industries with the support of the entire plastic value chain,” said Paolo Glerean, Chairman of RecyClass.

The focus will be on polymers including PS, ABS, PP, and PE, amongst others. RecyClass has extended its scope to be prepared for anticipated European regulations on the recyclability of plastics in electrical and electronic products and vehicles.

“We are committed to assisting these industries in developing Design for Recycling Guidelines and Recyclability Evaluation Protocols for the plastics components of their products, ensuring alignment with European recycling processes.
