Global innovation leader with technology-based materials DuPont is expanding its well-known Delrin® product family with the addition of new, sustainable types under the name Delrin® Renewable Attributed. Long-standing distribution partner Biesterfeld Plastic will distribute the products in large areas of the EMEA region and Brazil.

The base polymer in the new Delrin® Renewable Attributed products is based on 100% bio-feedstock from waste according to ISCC Plus mass balance certification. Production of these innovative types is powered by certified renewable electricity from wind power and steam sourced from municipal waste energy recovery. Delrin® Renewable Attributed products have the same quality, performance, processing and sensory experience as the established products but with a significantly improved carbon footprint. Users can easily adapt to the new types by means of a simple ‘drop-in’.

The advantages of Delrin® POM homopolymers include low friction and wear resistance as well as high rigidity and strength. The product family also has a wide operating temperature range (-40 °C to 120 °C) and good dyeing performance. Leading companies worldwide therefore specify Delrin® for a wide range of applications, such as components for safety applications, door systems and conveyor systems.

“Our long-standing partner DuPont has set itself ambitious sustainability goals to be met by 2030 and regularly presents innovative new materials that pave the way to a more sustainable future,” says Martin Rathke, Business Manager Engineering Polymers, Biesterfeld Plastic. “We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers the innovative new Delrin® Renewable Attributed products and in so doing enable them to move towards their own sustainability goals.”

“Biesterfeld has already been distributing the Delrin® product family in the EMEA region with great success for many years,” adds Andreas Zöller, Global Business Leader Delrin® , DuPont. “In Biesterfeld we have a strong distribution partner who will help us position these new products successfully on the market as we move towards the goal of carbon neutrality.
