British Exhibitors at Plastindia 2018

The BPF-led British Pavilion was located in a prominent location in hall 11, which was one of the international halls attracting a steady flow of local visitors looking for the latest solutions in processing and machinery, as well as services.

The British Pavilion featured thirteen exhibitors:

“The visitors numbers that came onto the Longworth stand were a lot more in India than in other countries attended. A lot of people were interested in improving the environmental impacts as well as saving process costs. From the biggest polymer plants to the student visitors we had a great reception in each case. Plastindia was a success for us and now we have to follow up and develop the opportunities fully.” John Norris, Director, B&M Longworth(Edgworth) Ltd

A number of British exhibitors were supported with a DIT Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) grant of £2,500, which helped offset the some of the cost of exhibiting.

Aprart from the TAP grants, DIT helped the British Pavilion exhibitors by having a  joint stand with the BPF, which worked as a networking area for the exhibitors and trade mission delegates. The BPF/DIT stand offered refreshments for the delegates, use of complimentary WIIFI and enabled them to schedule meetings at a designated space.

Thank you for all your help and support in assisting TransXL in attending Plastindia to strengthen our links in India, where we already supply second hand plastic sheet extrusion lines and thermoforming equipment. A big thank you to the British Plastic Federation (BPF) and the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT)  for the use of the networking stand as a base for meetings, alongside a cup of Chai and the use of complimentary WIFI connection for the British delegates.” said Tim Wrighton, TransXL International Ltd

British exhibitors and mission delegates had the pleasure of meeting the Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat, Geoff Wain. Geoff joined Plastindia show organisers in the official Opening Ceremony as a VIP guest on the first day of the show.  Mr.Wain visited the stands of the British exhibitors to learn their export stories and brief them in the services and support they can get from the DIT India team.

“Indian interest in the products exhibited by UK companies at Plastindia 2018 was palpable; quickly demonstrated by firm orders for products ranging from slitting and rolling machines to anti static devices. No wonder: with Indian industry growing at a faster pace than the already booming Indian economy, Indian companies are upping their game in boosting capacity, efficiency and quality. India is no longer a long game, demand is here now and UK companies should be too. Talk to your International Trade Advisor to get help exporting or do get in touch with me on guy.bromley@fco.gov.uk, and I and my team can help you do business with India.” Guy Bromley, British High Commission New Delhi

DIT India and the Deputy High Commissioner hosted an evening welcome reception for the British delegates on the first night of the show, with nearly fourty guests networkig over dinner and drinks. Gujarat, where the show is held, is a ‘dry’ state, meaning drinking alcolohol is prohibited without a special licence, so having a drink in the evening at the reception was an extra bonus for the British guests! DIT kindly arranged transport for the guests and everyone had a really good time.

As part of the mission programme, the delegates had a number of meetings prearranged, where they used the BPF/DIT stand to hold the meetings. They also organised their own meetings to maximise the success of their market visit.

The DIT/ BPF stand at Plastindia not only provided a base for the delagates but also showcased some of the best products and designs of British plastics industry. Samples of Horners Award and PIA winners and runners-up were on display such as: TickleFLEX (insulin injection aid for diabetics), Oxtex (intelligent tissue expansion), pTrumpet (the world’s first all-plastic trumpet), Eyejusters (adjustable eye glasses), Trunki Jurni (suitcase for young travellers), braille printing onto plastic packaging, Magicup (with patented anti-spill technology), digitally printed sports bottles and more.

“Just a quick word of thanks for all the help you gave Andrew and myself leading up and during our visit to India. As BEP Surface Technologies manufactures process rolls for laminators, coaters and cast film producers and we were able to meet some really good contacts and research first-hand the Indian plastics market. Without the market visit we wouldn’t have the knowledge from any other source.” Garry Aspinall, Business Development Manager, BEP Surface Technologies Ltd
