Victrex Polymer Solutions, a division of high performance materials manufacturer Victrex plc, has introduced a new proprietary range of products: VICTREX ST polymer.
This innovative new product line is part of the VICTREX PEEK product family and is designed to perform in the most demanding environments, specifically in applications requiring a combination of high temperature, mechanical performance and dimensional stability. The new polymer launches with two grades: STG45 polymer (an unfilled granule grade) and ST45GL30 polymer (a glass-filled granule grade).
According to John Grasmeder, Technology Director of Victrex, the new polymer has improved mechanical performance at higher temperatures while maintaining VICTREX PEEK’s properties of purity, electrical resistance, chemical resistance, dimensional stability and low permeability/moisture absorption.”
When compared to other unfilled/unreinforced polymers, the VICTREX ST STG45 grade has improved mechanical performance especially in the temperature range from 150°C to 200°C. The VICTREX ST ST45GL30 grade features a heat distortion temperature of 380°C and therefore opens up new application opportunities for customers who work at temperatures over 300°C.
This combination of benefits provide Victrex customers another choice when placing applications in demanding temperature environments such as those found in the automotive, oil and gas or electronics industry. Equipment or parts made with VICTREX ST polymer have the potential to perform better, last longer and help customers realize long-term cost savings.
VICTREX ST polymer is a metal replacement option for many types of applications such as seals, disk drive carriers, connectors, turbo charger impellers, rings, test sockets, wire coatings and valve plates.
