First production site in the United States: Südpack acquires Seville Flexpack Corporation

Ochsenhausen / Oak Creek, October 2, 2017 – Südpack Verpackungen GmbH und Co. KG, one of Europe’s leading providers of flexible packaging solutions, has recently acquired the Seville Flexpack Corporation, based in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Südpack’s business in the US, which it will successively expand. Previously, the company’s only toehold in the US market was a sales office in the Chicago area. At the new facility in Oak Creek, important processing steps including printing and refining will be done for the US market. On October 1, 2017, Seville Flexpack officially became part of the Südpack Group, which will retain all of Seville’s employees and continue to serve its customers.

Seville Flexpack is a converter and provider of flexible packaging solutions with more than 40 years’ experience in printing and processing. Based in the greater Milwaukee area, it has a firmly established client base in North America and remains a family-owned business. “We’d been looking for a suitable candidate for our US business for quite some time, and we’re very pleased to have found the right partner in Seville Flexpack in Oak Creek,” explains Johannes Remmele, Managing Partner at Südpack. “The site is ideal in a number of ways: the facilities offer modern equipment for flexographic and rotogravure printing, sufficient storage capacity, and most importantly: highly experienced employees. In addition, it’s located at the heart of the US meat and cheese industry – two key customer segments for our packaging solutions. Taken together, it’s the perfect fit for our corporate group.”

Strengthening and expanding its US business

On October 1, the site became part of the Südpack Group. All of its employees will be retained, and Südpack will continue servicing Seville’s client base. The goals of the acquisition are, to provide products for Südpack’s current customers in the USA quicker whilst offering more flexibility. Moreover, by acquiring its first overseas production site, Südpack has laid the groundwork for further expanding its US business. In the near future, printing, processing, and slitting will be done directly in Oak Creek – which will translate into shorter delivery times and greater flexibility. “That was an essential aspect for us, as we intend to grow further in the United States and broaden our client base,” adds Remmele.

New employees already personally welcomed

On September 25, Südpack’s Senior Management visited the new site and met with the employees face-to-face. “We’re delighted to welcome them on board as new employees,” states Johannes Remmele. “Our two companies are an outstanding fit – which is why we’re confident we’ll make a great, successful team!”
