Life Ionizers, a US manufacturer of water ionizers, has unveiled a reusable plastic bottle, which is biodegradable and bisphanol-A (BPA) free.
The company said an environmentally friendly additive has been added to the polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) during the manufacturing process, which makes the polymers biodegradable.
The containers, which fit into a closed loop recycling stream, are not oxo-biodegradable or corn-based PLA plastic bottles but biodegrade in aerobic and anaerobic environments, the company said.
Life Ionizer bottles are recyclable and can be mixed into the recycling stream with other plastic bottles
