RPC Containers Corby, part of the UK-based RPC Group, has invested in new Injection Stretch Blow Molding (ISBM) technology to enhance the transparency of its high barrier polypropylene/ethylene vinyl alcohol/polypropylene (PP/EVOH/PP) containers.
The company said this technology opens up opportunities in the retail sector, in particular markets such as cook-in sauces, instant coffee, ready meals, fruits and baby foods, producing packs that deliver high clarity for a premium on-shelf image along with the practical, convenience and safety benefits of plastic.
The lighter weight of the plastic jars will also help meet sustainability targets in terms of packaging and carbon emission reductions.
According to RPC Corby, the development of a special manufacturing process allows it to incorporate effective EVOH oxygen barrier to deliver long ambient shelf life. Meanwhile, the containers are thermally stable to temperatures in excess of 100°C for effective pasteurization and sterilization.
