At CHINAPLAS 2014, Starlinger demonstrated the recoBATCH technology for recycling of polypropylene (PP) tape production waste and the optional production of masterbatch in one step.
The Starlinger recoBATCH feature can be added to Starlinger recoSTAR recycling lines and allows the production of masterbatch from PP tape production waste by adding calcium carbonate (CaCO3) powder in the recycling process.
The company’s textile packaging also presented the ad*starKON SX+, the new conversion line in the ad*starKON SX series for block bottom valve sack conversion. The new PP*STAR pinch bottom bags with Easy Open strip, launched in last November, was also a spotlight at the show.
“China’s recycling market is getting more attention,” observes Arnold Sillipp, Regional Sales Manager, Starlinger. “The country starts taking care of the environment and recycling is coming up.”
As a result, Starlinger’s recycling division is also making more turnover than its woven business in China, he revealed. “We are doing a lot of projects for PET bottle-to-bottle recycling.”
The Chinese market is promising, according to Mr. Sillipp, and the prospect this year looks bright. Therefore, Starlinger is looking to expand its current factory in Taicang, China.
“We have reserved the land behind our current site,” he disclosed. “At the moment there is a company occupying the space but it will be moving out this summer. From then on we will take over the building.”
The expansion will enhance Starlinger’s capacity to produce big looming machines for flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) bags, which is another major focus of the company in China.
As for the show, Mr. Sillipp was happy about visitors flow and overall organization.
“There are many visitors and also the quality of them is very good. These industry experts came not just from China, but also Egypt, India, Southeast Asia, Middle East and even South America,” he said.
