Engel Austria will show up at drinktec 2013 with a focus on maximizing output with minimum energy consumption. An Engel e-cap 3440/380 with a 72-cavity mold by the Austrian toolmaking specialist z-moulds will demonstrate the production of 1.8g closure caps for still water (UCL Design 28 mm PCO 1881).

The Engel e-cap series injection molding machine is specially developed for cap production. Thanks to the all-electric concept with an injection unit in premium execution, a platen ejector with increased ejector force and the increased clamp speed, e-cap machines reach cycle times of well under 3s depending on the type of closure, while achieving good process stability. The company says it also achieves considerable savings on energy and cooling water, thereby cutting costs significantly.

At drinktec, Engel and its partners will present a fully automated production cell based on a 380 tons machine with integrated quality control. The patented z-slides technology from z moulds helps to minimize cycle times while ensuring ease of use and highly efficient production. The cap cooler is provided by Eisbär from Austria and the camera-based control system, which ensures 100% quality control, came from INTRAVIS of Germany.

Engel believes that efficiency potential can only be fully exploited if all system components are coordinated from the outset. It is therefore cooperating with leading equipment suppliers to offer integrated and automated turnkey solutions from one single source.

drinktec 2012 will be held in Munich from September 16-20.
