DuPont China Holding Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the US-based DuPont, announced that it has agreed to a share transfer agreement of its interest in the Asahi-DuPont POM (Zhangjiagang) Co Ltd (ADZ) joint venture with Asahi Kasei Chemicals, which began manufacturing acetal (POM) copolymer resins in 2004.
DuPont and Asahi Kasei Chemicals will work to receive approvals from the Chinese government.
DuPont says the decision is consistent with its strategy to focus market and development efforts on the high performance, high precision POM applications where acetal homopolymer is typically required. The company seeks to strengthen its supply chain capabilities to further increase the volumes of Delrin acetal homopolymer sourced locally within China.
Delrin acetal homopolymer is typically used in high demanding applications in the automotive, industrial and consumer markets, including safety systems or electrical motors.
