At this year’s WITTMANN Group Competence Days (happening on April 24–25 at the WITTMANN BATTENFELD headquarter in Kottingbrunn), the latest development in the field of material blenders will be presented. The gravimetric blender model GRAVIMAX B14 (batch size 1 kg) is now equipped with a further advantageous option: an elevating mechanism for material loaders that are mounted on the GRAVIMAX blender.
Due to its construction features and ongoing consumption, a polymer blender is typically charged with the needed material either by hand or by the use of material loaders. As time and cost weigh heavily on today’s manufacturers, cleaning procedures and blender material changes should last no longer than five minutes.
Thus, the WITTMANN GRAVIMAX blender was constructed to assure an all around easy access and easy removability of the most important parts: material hopper, weigh bin, and bowl mixer. The material hoppers are equipped with large “clip-on” corner windows to provide full view for material inspection, and they can also be removed; providing a simple and quick access to the material loaders that are mounted on the blender. A thorough and unlimited cleaning of the discharge area has therefore been made possible by WITTMANN.
But for also enabling a complete quick and easy material change, a special elevating mechanism has now been developed for the GRAVIMAX B14. Material loaders that are already mounted on the blender do not now need to be demounted any more, thus saving valuable time. Two strong pneumatic cylinders now serve to lift the complete covering of the material hoppers – including the material loaders. Afterwards the hoppers can be either cleaned at their current position, or they can be removed and reinsert after the cleaning procedure.
In designing this new feature WITTMANN paid paramount attention to operational safety: Although the use of both hands is necessary for letting the loaders down again, all the product edges were furnished with an appropriate safeguard, thus guaranteeing a smooth process throughout all phases of the operation.More information :www.wittmann-group.com
