Holfeld announce the newly extended K37 range of soft fruit punnets See us at Fruit Focus, East Malling, Kent July 24th
Holfeld Plastics has unveiled its growing family of K37 punnets. Joining the K37-40 and K37-85 is the K37-50, 60 and 70mm depths further complimenting the exciting portfolio of fresh produce soft fruit and salad packaging including the G81 range of soft fruit punnets. The Standard Crate Fit K37 family is manufactured from super cleaned r-PET with at least 85% recyclate in the blend.
The portfolio has been designed with a sympathetic rib design for on shelf presentation, maximum visibility of the soft fruit as well as in-transit protection. Sloping vents in the base allow the soft fruit to breathe even when the punnets are in transit from packhouse to retailer, reducing in pack condensation and enhancing the shelf life of the soft fruit.
Modified lips allow for heat sealed or lidded options. There are up to 28 colours to select from in the standard range with bespoke colours available on request for specific customer requirements.Frank Coleman, Operations Director at Holfeld said: ‘No other supplier is doing what we are doing to deliver sustainability as well as extending shelf life’. ‘The recycled material used in the manufacture goes through our factory food grade ‘superclean’ system, approved by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), ensuring that we are meeting regulations. We are always looking to deliver fresh ideas to the market ensuring we are offering sustainable packaging solutions which meet the exacting standards of today’s retailer and the consumer.
By using recycled PET in our production much less energy is required significantly reducing our carbon emissions. The inclusion of 85% post consumer recyclate in our punnets has resulted in a 54% reduction in the carbon footprint of our products.’Holfeld Plastics are leaders in Sustainable Packaging in Ireland, England and Northern Europe. One of the key benefits of our recycled PET (rPET) is that it’s approximately 80% lower in terms of raw material carbon footprint than virgin PET or Polypropylene.
Holfeld has launched a revolutionary new low carbon rPET material (rPET-ECO), with a specific gravity of just 1g/cm3. Launched into the fresh food market, rPET-ECO offers easy cut, low temperature forming while also providing a very attractive looking product. For more information: www.holfeldplastics.com
