“More than 95% of manufactured products around the world are enabled by chemistry. The Dow Chemistry Lab offers an informative and interesting learning space for visitors to experience how the power of chemistry can positively impact society,” said Peter Sykes, President of Dow Greater China. “Tianjin is a strategic business hub for Dow, and we always care about the communities in which we operate. This Chemistry Lab is an important milestone in our community efforts to expand science education throughout China.”

Located in the Tianjin Science and Technology Museum, the Dow Chemistry Lab is free to the public and is expected to attract up to 300,000 visitors each year. With an area of about 80sqm, it features three displays, The Magic of Chemistry, Chemistry Enables a Beautiful Life, and Chemist’s Challenges and Visions of the Future, and offers two daily sessions of interactive chemistry experiments. Maintained by trained museum staff, Dow employees will also participate in the lab programs as volunteer tutors.

Xu Yanhao, Secretary General of the CAST, commented, “We encourage everyone to actively participate in science education so as to make the whole nation better understand science. We also need to cultivate interest in scientific disciplines while encouraging innovation and the respect of knowledge and talent in our society. With the increasing awareness of social responsibility, companies are playing a bigger role in this area. The Lab program will have a positive impact on the lives of children, helping inspire them to contribute to a sustainable future.”
