Specialist stretch blow moulding machinery manufacturer Magplastic (Switzerland), part of the SIH Group, has launched what claims to be one of the most flexible PET bottle blowing machines available, capable of producing bottles in a wide variety of sizes from 40ml to 2 litres.
The new SSB03i was developed specifically to cater for the demands of the Indian market, where Magplastic established a dedicated facility in Pune in 2004 to enable it to respond quickly to the needs of this emerging sector. The machine offers a speed up to 3,800 bottles per hour (bph) in a 3 cavity configuration blowing bottles from 40ml to 1 litre, and 1,800 bph for bottles from 1.25 to 2 litres as a 2 cavity machine.
Magplastic says this versatility enables the machine to produce family ranges in different sizes, or respond to changing customer or market requirements.
The SSB03i has been developed in conjunction with Bisleri, a household name and the pioneer of bottled mineral water in India with a 40% market share. Traditionally Bisleri sold mineral water in small bottles but its growing popularity combined with higher disposable incomes among many consumers led to increasing demand for larger sizes from 250ml up to 2 litres. While volumes are relatively low at present, Bisleri wanted a machine that was capable of producing a variety of sizes, both small and large, in order to be able to meet both current and future needs.
