At Chinaplas, the annual plastics and rubber trade fair held earlier this May in Guangzhou, China, German injection molding machine supplier BOY has shown two interesting innovations. The new BOY XS created just as much interest with the attendees as did the new drive technology of the BOY “E” series.
With a maximum performance in the smallest possible space, the BOY XS injection molding machine with 100 kN clamping force, creates new perspectives regarding micro and single-cavity injection molding. The BOY XS is designed for continuous industrial operation. It is also available as an insert molding machine with the designation BOY XS V, featuring vertically arranged clamping and injection units.
BOY’s production philosophy was deliberately refined and perfected during the development of the new BOY XS. The BOY XS follows the philosophy of employing smaller machines that can be used with more flexibility including the use of single-cavity molds rather than larger, complicated, and delicate moulds. This philosophy provides decisive advantages for many molding companies producing small plastic parts.
A BOY 55 E, featuring BOY’s new drive technology, operates more economically, faster, quieter, and also more precisely. With the BOY 55 E injection molding machine, precious energy can be saved with each cycle. This is enabled by a servo-motor pump drive. The energy consumption for the drive of the machine is reduced by more than 50 %. Compared to fully hydraulic injection molding machines with electronically controlled variable displacement pump, the energy requirement is even below that of electro-mechanical machines that, incidentally, also have a markedly higher connected load.
The small footprint due to the proven cantilevered two-platen clamping system, as well as the innovative Procan ALPHA control are further highlights of this compact machine. The patented touch-screen control system ensures perfect precision and repeatability, combined with ease of operation. For this important market, the Procan ALPHA control was equipped with the screen pages in the Chinese language, including the help functions and the integrated digital instruction manual.
