Spartech Corporation, a producer of plastic sheet, compounds and packaging products, announced its Ultros Renu, Ultros Renu 90 and Royalite G50 products received certification for recycled content from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). The three products are primarily used in the building and construction markets.

According to the company, the three products all received the same certification, denoting that the respective products conform to SCS’s Recycled Content Standard V4-1, utilizing at least 50% pre-consumer, recycled content. The certification is based on an annual review. Spartech’s current certifications run through March 31, 2013.

Ultros Renu and Ultros Renu 90 are both PETG products of superior clarity and chemical resistance. They are primarily used in the building and construction markets and commonly used in point of purchase displays, store fixtures, atriums, amongst other applications. Royalite G50 is a non-PVC, non-halogen, flame-rated sheet product for use in wall coverings, ceiling tiles and a myriad of other architectural applications where stringent building codes are required.

Both Ultros Renu products and Royalite G50 fall underneath Spartech’s suite of Visual Plastics products. These products are designed specifically for use in the visual markets of signage, displays, graphic arts and architectural design.

3form, a provider of sustainable architecture and design materials and solutions, uses Ultros Renu in several of its applications. “Working alongside Spartech and having product certifications, such as SCS, provides important transparency to customers so they know that the products they specify and use are truly sustainable,” said John Willham, 3form Chief Technology Officer.

“Spartech’s vision is to become the leading supplier of sustainable plastic solutions. Because of this, we are always looking for ways to be more sustainable, to get more out of products, more out of our raw materials. Using recycled content is a big part of that effort.” said Michael Malin, Commercial Development Manager at Spartech. “The SCS certification is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and our customers, who benefit from our sustainable practices.”

The SCS certifications allow architects, designers, and other end-users the opportunity to earn credits toward the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Building Rating System.
